On sharing the load

Someone recently overheard me explaining what it is that I do, and then sent me this note:

“I really liked the way you described your work as being about holding people - I've heard coaches talk before about holding the space, but never about holding the person or sharing what they're carrying. For what it's worth, I think that makes you stand out and it's also very appealing (to me anyway!)”

Well, that is exactly how I think of my coaching - as creating a space and a relationship in which clients can feel safe, and in which I can help them hold whatever they have brought (or whatever has brought them) to coaching, freeing them to look at it, explore it, reflect on it and decide what they want to do about it, without having to carry the full weight of it at the same time.

So if you’re looking for someone to share the load while you decide which bits you want to carry forward and which you want to leave behind, then I’m here with my arms out, ready to help.
