Frequently Asked Questions
Do you only coach people over 50?
No. In fact I have had many clients in their 40s and some in their 30s and even 20s! The reasons I primarily focus on 50+ are set out in this blog. My younger clients tend to have arrived ‘early’ at a point where they need a significant rethink about work. Perhaps they’re starting again after being out of the workplace, or they’ve already achieved what they set out to do in their work to date and are looking for what comes next. Or something has changed their attitude towards themselves, or towards work, their ability to embrace it, or what they think they want to get from it. Whatever brings clients to me, and whatever age they are, my coaching provides them with a safe and supportive space to explore past, present and future constructively and without restriction or judgement.
Is there an upper age limit?
Not at all. As long as you’re interested in exploring the role you want work to play in your life, I’m interested in supporting you to do so. This might include how to push ahead with career ambitions without allowing age to be a barrier. Or how to achieve a balance between your work and your other responsibilities or interests. Or deciding whether and when to move away from work altogether, and how to make a good transition into some form of retirement.
Do you offer single coaching sessions?
Yes, I offer coaching on a pay-as-you-go, session-by-session basis, if that’s what best suits your needs or budget. Please get in touch for more information and to discuss your requirements. However, most of my coaching is delivered through my Viewfinder programme, comprising six sessions across three months, plus a review session and inter-session support. One significant benefit of this format is that we make a clear mutual commitment at the outset and forge a strong coaching relationship, and then we work in partnership, in a very focused way, to achieve the agreed coaching outcome within the timeframe of the programme.
If you’re not sure what’s best for you, just get in touch to discuss your situation (with no cost or commitment to proceed) and we’ll take it from there.
I’m on a low income - do you offer reduced rates?
My rates are set to be broadly accessible to individual clients. However, I recognise that incomes and financial circumstances vary hugely and, as generosity is one of my values, I may offer reduced rates where I feel a prospective client would benefit significantly from what I can offer and does not have the means to pay the full fee. I also occasionally offer coaching on a pro bono basis as part of my mission to contribute to my local community.
If cost is a barrier for you, please get in touch to discuss your needs and circumstances.
